Great Experience
“It was such a great experience. The rooms are very nice and cozy. You immediately feel at home on the Moana. The crew is very friendly and attentive. Great for switching off while being surrounded by such beautiful nature. The underwater world is breathtaking, and I have never seen anything like it before. The crew always had tasty meals prepared for us, and the variety was great. The number of guests on the ship is perfect and very pleasant, a great opportunity to make new friends. I very much hope to be able to set sail with the Moana again. I can only recommend it. A big thank you to the whole team, and I hope to see you soon.🫶🏻⛵️”

Built for Comfort, Designed for Adventure

Moana is more than just a dive boat — she's a floating boutique hotel purpose-built for life in the Komodo National Park.

Her traditional Phinisi lines are complemented by modern amenities: air-conditioned ensuite cabins with hot showers, a spacious sun deck with bean bags for stargazing, and a shaded main deck where meals are served family-style.

The generous dive platform at the stern makes gearing up effortless, and two tender boats ensure diving and snorkeling groups can operate independently.

With a 11-person crew dedicated to just 10 guests, the level of personal service is remarkable.

Common questions
FAQs
Can you accommodate specific dietary wishes?
We’re happy to accommodate most common dietary preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. Vegan meals can also be arranged, although please note that our chefs use shared kitchen equipment. If you have specific requirements or preferences, just let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to take care of everything. You’re also very welcome to bring any specialty items or snacks you’d like to have on board.
How strong are the currents in Komodo?
Komodo offers all kinds of dive sites and diving types. Yes, it is known for strong currents too. Those are caused and effected by the moon cycle as in any other area in the world. During your trip, you can expect some drift dives, and occasionally reef hook dives. That said, we carefully plan each itinerary to create a balanced experience, mixing different dive types and conditions. Most importantly, we always take into account the experience level and comfort of our guests. Our dive guides select sites accordingly to ensure that everyone feels safe, confident, and able to fully enjoy the experience.
When do I need to be in Labuan Bajo, Flores?
Please make sure to arrive in Labuan Bajo no later than 10:00 AM on the day of your departure. We offer complimentary pick-up from both the airport and your hotel in Labuan Bajo, making your arrival as smooth as possible. After the trip, we recommend booking your onward flight for 1:00 PM or later to allow for a relaxed return and transfer.
What is the water temperature in Komodo?
Water temperatures in Komodo are generally warm and tropical. At the surface, you can expect around 27–28°C (80–82°F), while most dive sites average around 25°C (77°F). Due to thermoclines, you may occasionally experience short drops in temperature during a dive. For comfort, many of our guests choose to wear a 5mm long wetsuit. Others are perfectly happy in a 3mm wetsuit or even a shorty. It really comes down to personal preference.
Do I need to be Advanced Open Water Diver?
An Advanced Open Water certification is helpful, but it’s not required to join our trips. What matters most to us is your individual experience, comfort level, and confidence in the water. Our team takes this into account when planning dives and will always guide you toward sites that are suitable for you. We encourage all divers to be aware of their limits and to dive conservatively. It’s always okay to skip a dive if you’re not feeling comfortable. Your safety and enjoyment come first.
Do you offer nitrox for diving?
We do not offer Nitrox on board. Our dive profiles are planned in a way that makes diving with air very comfortable. We allow for generous surface intervals (typically over 2 hours), and most dives are conducted within recreational depth limits, often above 25 meters. In Komodo, conditions can vary, and occasional downcurrents may bring divers deeper than planned. In those situations, diving with air provides an added margin of safety compared to higher oxygen mixes. Overall, our dive planning ensures that you can safely and comfortably enjoy all dives without the need for Nitrox.
How can I pay on Moana?
ONBOARD PAYMENTS Your on board bill can be paid in several ways. CASH You are more than welcome to pay with EURO, USD or (ide- ally) Indonesian Rupiah IDR. Our Cruise Director will use an exchange rate given by accounting. CREDIT CARD You can pay for your expenses on Moana also with credit card. Excluding the crew tip ATM There is an ATM in Labuan Bajo, Flores. TIP Within the liveaboard industry its common to tip the crew if you are satisfied with their service. We suggest a tip of 25- 30Euro per guest and night. Tips are shared equally between the Indonesian crew members. Ideally you have the tip in cash in IDR with you as our Cruise Director will hand out the tip to the crew directly at the end of the trip.
